Who Lurks?

I realized in watching both Virginia Tech vs. Marshall and LSU vs. West Virginia that I should make a post about programs that I dislike the most. I could probably use the word “hate” but I can’t say that I hate all these programs.

So here we go… the top 10 programs, regardless of sport that I really don’t like/hate.


Honorable Mentions:
Cal State Fullerton Baseball- Many bad experiences and situations over a 3 year period.
Oregon Football: Their thousands of bandwagon fans in the greater Sacramento area drive me crazy. The best part is I don’t hear them quacking now that LSU handed them a solid opening weekend ass kicking.

All women’s basketball programs: Seriously. If you’ve ever worked with a women’s basketball coach you will quickly find out they are a giant pain in the ass. They fully believe they should be playing in front of sold out crowds and that people should be attending their games on a Sunday afternoon instead of watching the NFL or doing ANYTHING else in November/December. Then, come conference season, they don’t understand why the fans aren’t showing up for their “big time showdown” with fill in the blank rival women’s basketball program. I’ve never worked with a women’s basketball program or coach that I enjoyed. This is one of the best parts of no longer working in college athletics.

Notre Dame Softball: Seems odd. I know. What the hell did Notre Dame softball do to you? Well, they were actually the first time that I ran an event and someone shat in my cereal. It was a Big East Conference softball championship tournament… and they and their fans made life very difficult for two days. They won, good for them, but because of that Notre Dame fans in general can go to hell. Plus, there was a midget down in San Diego that loved him some Notre Dame because he’s catholic or something. I kind of hate that guy too.

Ohio State Football: This is really more about their fans than their football program. Have you ever had a conversation with someone that is an Ohio State football fan? No lie, within 15 seconds you actually want to punch them in the face.

UVA Football: They would be higher on this list if they were ever competitive. I appreciate all the terrible years that Al Groh provided and thus enabled Virginia Tech to become the no-doubt-about-it best football program in the state. The last 10 years have been awesome for Hokie fans… and for that, I thank you. But UVA, you still suck and you still make this list, just not as high as you would if you were better….mostly because you don’t irritate me as much as these other programs.

Duke Basketball: They even suck at rape. From their head coach to the thousands of bandwagon fans, I think the brand of athlete they recruit is very much punk-bitch status. I have little respect for the type of basketball they play and once again, their fans don’t help.

Fresno State Baseball: The ironic thing is my girlfriend is from Fresno and I have a partnership with their athletic program. That being said, I hate them. Right or wrong, they have a swagger about their program that I just don’t get… and this was BEFORE they won a national title. I can only imagine the kind of arrogant bullshit that their baseball players are carrying now. They were beyond disrespectful at the couple of tournaments we held, their fans had a sense of entitlement, and their coaches didn’t give a shit. It’s really all bad.

Boise State Football: Seriously, I’m so fucking tired of hearing about them. Please go play someone more than twice a year. Actually if you could go play 2 or 3 good teams in a row….that would go a long way to earning some of my respect. Sorry but Tulsa or Toledo or Idaho aren’t screaming quality wins. Yet, if you look at their schedule, these are the wins the program has to have. And every single year they lose one of these games… and if they don’t, the bitch about how they should be playing for a national title. Really? Really Boise State? You do realize that if you were in the Pac12 or the SEC you would have at least 2 losses? Right? No? Ok, awesome. listen, I appreciate that they are a good program, but until they seriously beef up their non conference schedule to balance out their creampuff conference slate, I don’t want to hear it.

West Virginia Football: There is a reason that Virginia Tech doesn’t play them anymore… because they play dirty both as a football program and as an administration. I question anymore that has respect for their athletic programs. They are that kid that bitches until they get their way, only they aren’t getting their way. I hope they get stuck in Big East hell and nobody picks them up.

Auburn Football: Auburn, Alabama is beyond a terrible place. Am I happy that they won a national title? Sure….because everyone in the SEC wants the SEC to continue to collect those crystal footballs. But, beyond that… I hate them. Once again, I question anyone who defends them or went there.

And finally:
Gonzaga Basketball: I hate everything this program stands for. Their coaches staff is full of just terrible people that are beyond short sighted and have a flawed morality. The people working for the program really do think they are an elite level program….except they haven’t advanced to an elite 8 since 1999, and that was when they were still a cute story. The program seriously thinks it is above and beyond everyone in the conference. That the Pac12 and other major conferences should be considering them. They actually think their shit doesn’t stink. They have yet to produce a coach that has left the program and done even reasonably well. And really, you are in Spokane, Washington. Unless you are looking to score some meth, nobody wants to be there.
